On the 14th of November in 1975, Travis was born to Randy and Gloria Barker, the only boy and the youngest of three children. Just like any ordinary couple, his father worked as a mechanic and his mother babysat. His descent includes English, Irish and Italian. He got his first kit from his mother at age four when his mother realized his nascent talent, but he did not have any other until he was fifteen. He started taking drum lessons from a drummer named Michael Mai at age five who has a huge contribution in making Travis so versatile and honing his skills. Alongside, he also got down to take trumpet lessons. He tried his hands on piano and singing during his junior high. Barker also had a keen interest in surfing and skating that made him aspire to be a professional surfer and skateboarder.
