After graduating, Sharyn began her professional broadcast journalism career in 1994. Initially (from 1994 to 1995), he worked as a news reporter, weekend weather anchor, photographer, and editor at KHBS-TV in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Later, from 1995 to 1997, Sharyn worked as a general assignment reporter for WVEC-TV in Virginia and traveled there with the military.
