Mary Patricia (née Mohin), McCartney’s mother, had completed her nursing training at the Walton Hospital in Liverpool’s Walton neighborhood when he was born. Due to his service as a volunteer firefighter during World War II, his father, James (“Jim”) McCartney, was unable to attend his son’s birth. [8] From his father’s second marriage, McCartney has a younger brother, Peter Michael, and a younger stepsister, Ruth.
