Bryant was born on the 23rd of August, in the year 1978, in a hospital in Philadelphia. His parents’ names were Joe Bryant and Pamela Cox Bryant. His parents named him the world-renowned Japanese beef of Kobe. They noticed it on a menu at a restaurant. His father was a former NBA player, and so was his maternal uncle, John “Chubby” Cox.

He started taking an interest in basketball at the age of 3. The Los Angeles Lakers were always his dream team. His father retired from the NBA when Kobe was about 6 years old. After his father’s retirement, his family kept moving from one place to another, mainly in Italy. It made him quite fluent in Italian.

Among the two of his siblings, Kobe was the youngest one and the only son among them. His sisters are Sharia Bryant and Shaya Bryant. All the three siblings held a close relationship with each other until the time of his death. In the fall of 1999, Bryant got to know Venessa Laine when he was 21-years old, and she was 17-years old.

They both started to date each other after 6 months when they got engaged in May of the year 2000. They got married in April of the year 2001. They gave birth to four daughters. Being the son and nephew of NBA players, he aspired to become an NBA player from his childhood. Bryant applied for his NBA draft in the year 1996 when he was just 17 years old. After being drafted by the Lakers, his parents had to sign the contract in his place, and he was not legally credible. He signed a new 4-year contract of 3.5 million dollars with the Lakers when he turned 18. In his time, he was the youngest person to play in an official match of the NBA.

He also became the youngest dunk champion in the year 1997. After seeing many of his matches, he was starting to be compared with the likes of Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan. In his third year with the Lakers, his performance got him a new 6-year extension contract worth 70 million dollars. After the appointment of Phil Jackson as the Lakers coach, the team went ahead and won five NBA championship titles, and they won three titles in three consecutive years.

Kobe Bryant Endorsements

After getting signed by the Lakers in 1996, he got a 6-year contract from Adidas that got him nearly 48 million dollars. The first shoe that was released based on him was named Equipment KB 8. 

Some of his other earlier endorsements include the companies such as The Coca-Cola Company and Sprite soft drink. He also endorsed McDonald’s, and he promoted the new NBA infusion ball made by Spalding.

His collaboration with the Italian chocolate company named Nutella gained a lot of population among the citizens of the US too. He also appeared in his series of video games on the Nintendo console. He also signed a 5-year contract with Nike worth 40 million dollars, just before the time of his death.

Kobe Bryant Death

On the 26th of January, 2020, Kobe, along with his daughter, Gianna, and six other family friends, got in a helicopter along with the helicopter pilot, Ara Zobayan. Their helicopter was heading for the Camarillo Airport in Ventura County from Orange County, California.

Kobe and Gianna were heading for a basketball game held at the Mamba Sports Academy in Thousand oaks. There was light rain and fog that morning there. Due to this, grounding became important for most of the air traffic. There was a lot of heavy air traffic above the region of LA Zoo, and their helicopter was circling in it. Ara contacted the nearest control tower as soon as possible.

The control tower told him that he was at too low of an altitude to see on the radar. After that, due to the fog, their helicopter turned south towards the mountains and then suffered a considerable increase in altitude before crashing on the side of the mountains of Calabasas. All nine passengers got killed in the impact, and the helicopter crashed in the nearest hills.
